Yes. There is no nationality or residency restriction on owning property or land in Japan, and freehold ownership works the same for you as for a Japanese buyer. What decides a purchase is the property and its zoning, not your passport.

Moogo is the property line of The081, a Kyoto B&B operator since 2019 and now a licensed real estate brokerage. We are based in Kyoto, where we run the homes we manage day to day, and we broker purchases and sales anywhere in Japan.

We started by operating, not advising. Since 2019 we have taken on what owners dread: the license filing, fire and building compliance, and the neighbor consultation before the first guest.
